I have my new AE and am having psychological difficulty in putting my '05 up for sale. I need some excuses/rationalizations why keeping both can be a sane option. I'll then need to explain such reasoning to my wife. Anyone got any ideas?

Well, I suppose you could put your wife on the defensive and ask her how many pairs of shoes she has. Probably more than two pairs, right?

I'm not sure how old you are but the older I get it seems I'm always mis-placing stuff so in this case it's a good idea to have a spare feejer - just in case you can't remember where you put the other.

Actually, I promised my wife I'd sell my other bike when I got my FJR. I tried both those lines on her and it didn't work. So I hid all but one pair of her shoes just to make my point.

I took my 06 "AE" on a three thousand mile trip to New Mexico and Colorado over the past several days. The bike was fantastic in the mountains and on the flat. Close to 300 miles on dirt and gravel roads. Shortly after returning I asked myself why I had two motorcycles that are pretty much the same in the garage. So, I sold my 05 the other day. It was hard to part with the "Bluebird" as I had just shy of 40,000 miles in that seat. But, now there is room for a new motorcycle of a different flavor, not to mention someone got a fantastic 05 FJR and I have a pretty great 06 with now 5200 miles. :D

Wish we could have afforded to keep the 1200 Bandit when we bought the FJR.If we ever get a new FJR, we'll be keeping the '03.

Does that help? :)
Yeah, that helps. I'm basically "ate up". My '05 has only 7K miles. Still on the original 'stones. I like the idea of hiding her shoes to make a point. Also, I'm an old guy with a bad memory. Gotta have two. That's the ticket!
