I left the Grey Ghost with Raymundo for a little 24,000 mile TLC so that I could ride back to SPEARFISH with my wife in her Mini Convertible last week after visiting my new Granddaughter in Portland OR.

Headed from Ray's to Bug's on Wednesday and Thursday. I've done Highway 1 over on the coast, I've ridden 97 and 395 and sure as hell don't want to ride I-5.

It's only 350 miles, plus or minus, but there is a lot of scenery betwixt the two spots.

Where to go, what to see, what roads not to miss?

How to stay out of the smoke and fire?

All these have bearing on my choices.

Chime in - thanks

John

Envious! I am dreaming of hitting California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho on a bike some day.

Can't remember if you had went to Crater Lake with Festar on one of your trips. The traffic was never a problem while we were there.

It's smokey as hell here with air quality warnings. I think it's better going south. If you haven't seen Crater lake it's on the way but I think it's a bit over rated and stupid with tourists this time of year. Bug's route is a good one and you could head farther west to the trinity alps but I've heard it's really smokey there. Either way the bike is ready to go.

Thanks, Festar and I rode Crater Lake last summer from Ray's.

Bug's route has possibilities.

Somehow I gained a day in my planning so I have Wed, Thu and Friday. I'll figure something out.

May have to ride some Sierra Passes
