FJRs do the Yukon: Article Clicky

cool. Don't know them. Took my FJR to the arctic circle, damn fun trip....though I was in Sweden/Finland instead (did you know Santa's Village is on the arctic circle?). don't think i had such a nice pic like this tho.

Thanks for the link, interesting forum there. will have to explore more.

Yes, I met Mike Loomer once at the Loading Chute in Creston, CA. at the annual Toys for Tots Benefit a couple of years ago. He asked me where to get a pair of Wild Bill foot peg brackets. Mike told me at that time to look up his website as he and his wife had finished the ride as their honeymoon on a pair of FJR's they had bought just for the occasion.

THAT'S where I saw the photo before! Somehow I came across their website a while ago. If I recall, that trip was some time ago.

I should really be paying closer attention! So that is me, Wendy, and my hubby Mike.

We rode up to Inuvik in July & August 2005. It was an incredible ride, needless to say. Everything went flawlessly, except for the tires. We brought tons of mushroom plugs and CO2 cartiridges and the like, but the Dempster Highway is like riding on broken beer bottles. Fine when the shards are laying down, but they make big slices when they are facing the wrong way. Kinda hard to plug with mushrooms. It got pretty ugly at the end, but we made it home happy and healthy. I actually needed to jerry-can it to get to Eagle Flats, but Mike was good the whole way there (the half-way point) on a tank of gas.

My pleasure! I'm entertained that so many people are interested!
Great avatar pix... I kinda know what's involved with that.

And don't know squat (yet) about my planned Alaska 2010 trip..

So off to your site I go!

WooHoo!

:yahoo:

I see you're a local - If you want to get together with me & Mike sometime, we'd be happy to give you some tips. (And fill in some of those "Ask me if you want the whole story..." blanks!)

Wendy -

Very well done! I hope that you and your hubby know how fortunate you are to have built-in riding partners!

I'm waaay luckier than that - I have the greatest husband in the world! He's a wonderful man on all levels, but get this: He proposed to me with these FJRs.

We'd had dinner at a nice restaurant near my house on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. Afterwards, we took a little walk along the cliff-top trails. He proposed, then gave me a ring box with an engagement keyring. I pulled it out, and he did this grand Vanna White gesture, and sitting there on the restaurant lawn, previously in shadow but now grandly illuminated, were the two bikes. It had taken him 10 months to get the bikes, keep them a secret, and work out all the details.

That's a man who isn't just a built-in riding partner; he truly understands and appreciates my insane passions.

Aaaawwwwww....

Then I repaid him by making him ride to the Arctic Circle.

You're a very lucky woman but we all hate him for making the rest of us look bad... :)

That's what they all say! But it was a shining moment of creative craftiness, so I like to make sure he gets appropriate credit. Besides, how many women would be impressed by that type of thing? ;)

Wendy, I like the Auburn that you had for the wedding. A buddy of mine used to have one just like it...I got to drive it in a parade once. :specool:
