Thanks! It belonged to a buddy of mine, and he sold it shortly after our wedding. We were so lucky to get to use it! Plus, the owner drove me to the wedding - with long hair, and huge beard, and wearing a "F**k the ATF" T-shirt. Just to make sure nobody was taking anything too seriously. Awesome. Truly a day to remember.

That's what they all say! But it was a shining moment of creative craftiness, so I like to make sure he gets appropriate credit. Besides, how many women would be impressed by that type of thing?

Whew, NO ****!! Better know your woman REALLY well to make a bold move like buying her a motorcycle as a gift for that important an occasion (especially as an adjunct to the purchase of your own bike), or you risk being sent here:

As documented there, there's almost no escape from that, which would be a seriously BAD way to start a marriage. The doghouse has been discussed here recently, and I think the universal reaction was quaking FEAR.

Still, kudos to the hubby for having successfully given you exactly what you wanted. And to you for having wanted such a cool gift.

That was a crack-up! I'm on the flip side of that. It has taken me years to convince my family (mom) that when I say I want motorcycle parts for Christmas, I don't mean make-up and jewelry.

I think Mike figured he was pretty safe since I'm a motorcycle mechanic. Plus, about a year before the proposal I had was raving to him about the FJR after taking a customer's bike for a post-service test ride. He started talking about buying one for himself, and I have some vague recollection of colorful and thinly-veiled threats regarding what would happen if he got one before I did. So, being a logical man with a healthy sense of self-preservation, he did the only practical thing he could do in such a situation: Bought two and called one a present. Worked for me.

Score! There are a few of us out there, no doubt about it.

The last statistic I saw put the motorcycling population at about 2% of the general population, with women riders accounting for about 10% of riders. Minus the ladies who are just casual riders, scooter commuters, or bought-it-and-don't-like-it owners, further divided by chicks who have no desire whatsoever to receive motorcycle parts or accessories for any special ocassion... I figure, statistically speaking, that your lady and I are probably in a pretty sound minority.

Therefor, most of you guys are probably safe from having to worry about gifting a motorcycle.
