Today I had the chance to go up in a friends vintage T-28 Naval trainer along with another T-28 that his buddy owns. We were doing a little scouting for Jordan's Memorial dedication. Five of these awesome machines are going to do a flyover when we have the bridge renaming ceremony in his honor. Two of them will be trailing smoke and they will do a missing man formation. Following them will be a Vietnam Era Sikorsky Marine Corps helicopter provided by Helicopter Squadron 361 based in Jamesport, NY (where are you S76?). Should make for a very impressive display.
The orange and white aircraft was in a hanger being repaired about a year ago when lightning struck the hanger and set it on fire. A good portion of the right side of the aircraft was damaged and the canopy looked kind of like your rippled shower door. After many months and enormous expense, it came back looking like new.
These are the two aircraft all set to go out of East Hampton, New York.
I flew in this blue one.
Some statistics on the orange and white plane.
This is not a look of fear on my face....of course we still are on the ground...
Absolutely gorgeous day in our beautiful neighborhood.
