Sometimes a RR can't be all canyons, waterfalls and flowers...
Rode down to Sacramento last Saturday morning to check out the vintage bike show at the local BMW dealer with a couple riding buddies. We had some extra time so we went by Folsom Prison on the way back up the hill.
Always think of the Man in Black when I go to Folsom.
The prison was built along the American River near "Stoney Bar" a gold mining ravine. Construction began in 1878 and not only the outer walls but much of the cells were constructed with the local Granite. You can see some guards going to work, those huge doors made an everlasting sound when they banged shut.
Quite the substantial exterior light fixture from the day.
The Museum is located at the front entrance before you enter the big house. The museum had both outdoor and indoor displays.
Here's just a few of the home made knives removed from inmates over the years.
In the early days before the walls were built they had these babies to keep you inside...I suspect it worked quite well.
Billy had plenty of time on his hands to build this with toothpicks
Who knew there were so many models of handcuffs
And last but not least of of the more well know inmates of Folsom
You just never know where the bike may take you.
