For you guys in the frozen North

Since it was sunny and 75 degrees here in Houston today I went on a nice 125 mile ride on my recently de-ticked '05 FJR. That motor sounds so good now.

It was running great and I surely did think about all you guys up North who at this stage of winter can only go out to the garage and lovingly pat your bikes saddle and long for the day when it warms up enough to ride.

Hang in there, spring is coming.

Yeah, the days are already starting to get longer, and dreams of owning a new Yamaha are dancing in my head.

My previous ride on loan to me from a good friend, a Honda ST1300, has been sold so I'm longing for the Winter to end to see if owning a new bike is in the cards for me.

Actually quite nice out today, 38 deg, Buddy and I went for a nice cruise down Milton Road. Pavement was mostly clear and dry. Saw 6000 rpm in top gear a couple times.( I believe that's close to the posted speed limit, Right?)

Ms Claus was kind enough to get a digital video camera for me for Christmas, filmed the ride, now I just have to figure out how to edit the bloody thing......

I'm in central Minnesota, and I put about 70 miles on my FJR yesterday. Highs in the mid 30's all week, it will get more miles on it. I intend to wear this bike out long before I have to worry about the effects of corrosion.

Way to go MGM (and rub it in all at the same time ). Here in Vermont it might make it up to a BALMY 22 degrees today. Plus the roads all have that NASTY stuff on them called ROAD SALT to cover up/melt the ICE. Not anything I want to ride my FJR in for sure. At least I can ride my snowmobile to hold me over till spring comes and I can geet the FJR out again (after I do the 16k service that is).

Rode to work yesterday 12/27 high in the 70's, rode again today, high in the middle 60's, plan to ride tomorrow, high expected in the low 70's and again friday. woo hoo!! :bleh: great riding weather, but not much for hunting :trinibob: If we all did our part there would be less forest rats! So step up everybody and hit one w/lead instead!

Right Smart guy, you haven't seen what salt will do to a bike let alone how fast it happens. Yea I suppose you can say the salt air near the ocean is corrosive but till you've seen just how fast it can eat a bike....well lets say I'll be nice. I don't have a heated shop to pull in and wash that **** off soo. :****:

I rode every day this summer and fall, rain or shine, a coupla downpours had cagers off the road at times so I ain't 'fraid o water either, but those armored dildos :bleh: ya'll got down there would scare the stuff out'a me. :haha: So I guess everyplace has it's hazards now don't it :agent:

I presume you've never lived in the north to see what roadsalt and brine does to the underbody of your vehicle and just how covered with road spew the roads really are? Trust me, it ain't pretty. Rust happens overnight, literally. It's just not worth the hastle for a few rides. Besides, have you actually rode in freezing temps (don't forget the windchill)? Not quite as much fun as some people make it out to be.

I was born and raised in alaska. Believe you me, I know what riding in the cold is like. That's why I live in texas. It's warm down here, ya know. As for salt....tough *******. Deal with it. :lol:
