Went for an early evening ride up 9, Skyline, Bear Creek Road this evening on the lil 2 fiddy :yahoo: . I've never seen so many forest rats on the roads. I had to run up on at least 10 groups of 2-4 over the course of 20 miles. Some were beside the road, but the majority were on the road proper. Excellent ride even with the deer running about :D

Heads up to those in forested areas, when dusk hits, the deer emerge! I'm thinkin it's rutting season

Lots of Bambi's out in the hills east of Sacramento as well. In broad daylight, no less. We just finished about 5 years with nary a deer or pig on the ranch in Southern Monterey County - BUT, we had 3 lions working different parts of the place. Maybe we just need to import some big cats... BTW, Down there, rutting season is October/November. I'm scared of what it'll be like when the Bambi necks start swelling and they get really stupid - considering they're already all over the roads. Sounds like severly bloodshot venison could be on the menu...
