Hey guys how’s this for a scum bag ******* act…

My Dad who is still alive and kicking, is a Vietnam Vet and for those of you who have an interest in these things (Both tours with 6RAR, remember the Battle of Long Tan? https://www.hotkey.net.au/~marshalle/harry/harry.htm) anyway a Vet friend of his came across an EBay (Aust) add listing my dad’s service medals.

Now my Dad would never sell them anyway but this is the kicker….this prick also has my Dad’s full service history displayed!!! Everything he ever did or was posted too!!! Now how does some fuckstick get this sort of info???

The dog also tries to inflate the price of the medals as being owned by a WIA (Wounded in Action) soldier which my Dad was on the first tour. He also stated the medals are engraved with name and service number which is my Dad’s correct service number and yes, his full name…

Ebay has been notified and I ******* hate the fact they have no phone number contact for this kind of thing.

So the upshot is we are still waiting from Ebay of the outcome, some 6RAR service members are trying to track this ******* down and give his a bit of a talking too and I’m just plain ******* mad that some MFDog would do this!

Cheers

Wow Thug, talk about identity theft ! I would think this kind of detailed info could only come from a family member or someone with access to your armed forces service records.

Obviously they don't know who's kin their messing with ! Yet...

Actually, now that I've thought about it a little - well TWN does this kinda **** all the time.

He's the guy that lives in California and rubs it in to us northeners about the riding weather. In the middle of our snowed in winter . Repeatedly.

I've sent you plane fare.

Hey, Thug, Contact the boys at SOG(you're Dad will know who I'm talking about, I'm sure they would be very happy to help you out.l

Now thats ****** up. Somethings fishy here, records just don't get handed out to anyone that asks. They are not public info. Someone either got ahold of his 214 or someone's running a business outta recordkeeping.

UPDATE:UPDATE:UPDATE:UPDATE

Further to the above the seller has just sent me an email saying he has withdrawn his listing and has sent an email to my Dad to explain to him how he came by this information. So far so good. I hope this guy explains well enough otherwise my Dad may choose to rip him another arsehole.

I told my Dad about the latest developments so after he checks his email I'm expecting some more info over the next 24 hrs or so. Then he is off to the DoD and find out how in the **** someone can get hold of this information.

I'll keep ya posted, for all I know this guy may be legitimate and his supplier may be the dog.

What's the name of that organisation in the US who goes out and challenges those flea bitten imbeciles who claim they have served and wear their fake medals etc when they did not serve at all?

AirBoss - thanks for the info my Dad did some time with the SAS and several other Super Grunt regiments in his 22 years and is still well connected with them, but I will pass on you kind message just the same.

Rad - We are smelling the same **** I think.

The whole thing is ****** up!

Find him, "educate him" and post the pics for sale on Ebay to deter other would be scumbags.

Damn, is nothing sacred??

Thug -- The group here in the States that is always interested in hearing about imposters are the former Navy SEALS. It's amazing how many guys claim they were SEALS and it's really not that big of a fraternity. It's also amazing how many guys claim they are Vietnam Vets.....one of the latest of note was a fairly high ranking politician! Others have faked being awarded medals, like the Purple Heart, and I believe that is a criminal offense here in the States.

eBay is pretty good about policing things in my experience and will work with you. None of these internet companies have published phone numbers, and even the regular businesses that do have those ridiculous call channeling systems now.

As far as how his records became available, this is the "information age" and there isn't too much that's private or sacred anymore.

Tell your dad I said WELCOME HOME!

MrT thank you and I will...

TooPhast If only!....

UPDATE:

My Dad spoke to Ebay guy who seems to be very genuine according to my Dad who had a lengthy discussion with him, sounds like he may be a victim as well but I’m not convinced as yet. He told Dad that he was shitting himself when the emails started to come in.

He told Dad the story on how he came into possession of these fake medals as it turns out and long time Army mate of my Dad's handed them over to Ebay guy as payment for mounting some other medals my Dad's Army mate had done with Ebay guy.

When the Ebay guy inspected the medals in question he said “I can’t mount those because they are not your medals they have someone else’s name on it”, the Army mate said “Oh those are Mick Martin’s He’s a really good mate of mine”, never the less the Ebay guy didn’t mount them. When Army mate came back to pick the other mounted medals up, Ebay guy said I’ll keep these (my Dad’s) medals if you like as payment for the mounting? “Ok”, said Army mate.

So a phone call on Monday morning to my Dad's long time Army mate who may become an ex mate if he doesn't have a bloody good excuse. Look, it may be that Dad did lend them to his Army mate who may of needed them for a parade many years ago and Dad has forgotten about it but I doubt it.

My Dad then queried the Ebay guy on how in the hell he came by his complete service record? Ebay guy said "Oh, I have a mate who can get me those”.

Are you ******* kidding me???

So I don't think this Ebay guy is as squeaky clean as he makes out or maybe he is so genuine he trusts his mate to do the right thing by him.

So another call on Monday will be made to the DoD and put the wind up this bugger and any other ******* who is involved.

More twists and turns than a Snakes and Ladders game!

Whoever used your Dad's service record falsely has gone about as low as one can go. It's a sad day when Veterans are forgotten and their sacrifices go unnoticed but this is worse.

Hope you get it cleared up, and the guily party(ies) get what they deserve.

UPDATE

I cannot say too much at the moment but lets just say a retired high ranking Officer and his mate are in serious breach of our federal Laws and the **** has hit the fan so to speak...For them...

Stay tuned.

BTW Mr Ebay guy has sent my Dad the medals in question for no cost and is genuinely sorry for what he has done and the angst he has caused.

Cheers

******* Officers ya just can't trust them! :D

And before any of you ******s get on your high-horse it was a JOKE OK?

Chio :D

Kudos to Mr. EBay. Sounds as though he was also a victim of someone else's wrong doings.

Interested to hear how this works out.

thug

that whole thing sucks !!

in the US that kind of info is protected by the Privacy Act ,,

many years ago the father of a girl I was dating used his "buddy" in the DOD and looked up my Navy records ,, told my girl friend some things she knew and others no one should be telling out of school !!! when I found out I was PISSED beyond words!!! but this is not what is important !!!

I called the Office of Verterans Affairs ,, you see ,, this type of sensitive info is protected for some very good reasons ,, and the guy at the DOD got his *** chewed ,, investigated by Navy JAG ,, (they live for this kind of ****) ,, anyways MR DOD lost his JOB ,, and faced charges ,,

regards to your Dad !!!

“If you are able, to save for them a

place inside of you and then save

One backward glance when you are

Leaving for the place they can no longer go.

Be not ashamed to say that you loved them,

Though you may or may not have always.

Take what they taught you with there dieing.

And keep it with your own, and in time when

Men decide and feel safe to call war insane,

Take a moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind.”
