Here is a free tax prep program that I've used the past 2 years, It's easy and thorough and includes E-filing the fed return. Oh yeah, its also free! They would like to sell you the deluxe version, but this is all you need. It even does the state return for you so you can copy the figures onto the form. They have a small charge to print or E-file the state return.

Well, there is also TaxCut, the 2nd largest tax prep program out there. If you read PCMagazine (and what red blooded FJR rider doesn't read PCMagazine...), then you cat get a copy of TaxCut FREE, simply by adding PCMAGAZINE to the TaxCut URL.

Or, for the URL impaired...

Thanks. I have been procrastinating on my taxes. I'll give this a try and see if I like it.

The FREE TaxAct filing requires that your income is $52,000 or less and you are allowed only one return. If you meet these requirements it works great. This year you can establish a free electronic signature too.

If you have STATE FARM INSURANCE, you can go to www.statefarm.com and login to your account (create one if you don't have one yet) and complete your taxes FREE using TURBOTAX software through Intuit. I monitor all my policies through their website as well.

It's a nice perk for us policyholders.

The free filing for someone that makes under $52K isn't just with TaxAct. There's a whole list of companies that you can use on the IRS's website. Clicky

My son and daughter both filed online for free this year and it worked like a champ. Unfortunatley my wife and I made $52,000.01 so we couldn't use it? :angry2:
