Looks like lots of stuff gonna be happening at the SFO! I'm mostly interested in the riding stuff. So, since I'm not as adept as SFOchik at the mapping and all, there will be two rides, Friday and Saturday, both routes will be over 300 miles. Friday will include 341 (Push) and the middle 123, plus alot more. Typically the weekends see alot of leo's on these two roads, So, Friday will be best. Saturday will include 23, 16, lower 123 some of 7, 27 from Dover to Marshall (the best) so on and so forth!

This will be the "FJR Express" (or what ever you brung) a kind of "fiesty" type run! I will make several maps of each days run, for who ever wants one when you get there. Just ask for Scott (fjrrider)

Yer sayin' we have a choice? Well, bless my ***. I was under the impression it was one way or the highway.

Day 1 SFO

This would be a long day some 420 +/- miles. Leave early and stay on the gas, this is all twisties!

Day 2 SFO

This route is 434 miles, we can shorten either one up a little bit if we need to. This is one of my favorite routes, it includes 341 (Push Mtn) and 123, 2 of the best in Arkansas.

Any Questions?

Ok odot, your *** is now blessed, I got you signed up for both days!

a 400 mile day up in that area is a BIG day and means leaving early and riding - A LOT.
I understand that. The links provided give an estimated duration. The 2nd day lists 13 hours and change. That's without traffic, pedestrians, cows, fuel stops and breaks. Is it then a 15hr day considering that?

I'm interested, but I don't want to lose out on the money I've spent for the meals :)

Leave by 7:00 or 7:30 and plan on being back by 5:00. Cash bar opens at 6:00, Food served at 7:00!

That gives us 10 hours, including stopping to eat, get gas, strecth a few times etc...

This is an all day, stay on the gas kind of ride, no doubt. With this many people coming, theres always a handful that like this kind of riding.

I am sure there will be other rides that are shorter and not as intense.

Many of those roads up there are not at all forgiving of a tired rider and a lapse of concentration.
Then you must slow it down and ride your own pace!

I'll be up to all the riding I can get in. Food is a waste of time when I can ride. Looking forward to it.

Well maybe a few short food and water breaks, I'm with you on the rest, I dont get to ride up in that part of Arkansas enough as it is!

There's no way you can ride everthing in one weekend. Anyone not wanting to do the loops will have plenty of choices.

And BTW some of the best roads end in dirt. Just turn around and ride 'em in reverse!

Someone check my calculations. I figure if we leave at 7 sharp and estimate being back at 5 that gives us 10 hours. Assuming 1.5 hours for quick stops for lunch, breaks, and gas stops, we will be riding for 8.5 hours. At 420 miles we would have to average approximately 50 miles per hour. That is a very quick pace on these roads. I've ridden with Scott enough to know that when he says "stay on the gas kind of ride" he means it.

I know many of you are experienced riders, but if you live in an area that doesn't have these types of winding and twisting rodes that you have been practicing on a bunch; then you need to consider another ride.

123 and Push Mountain have some very technical areas to them....10 MPH Hair Pin, Off Camber, Down/Up Hill turns. I certainly am not telling you how to ride but want everyone to have a good and safe ride.

I know you will make your own decisions but you need to know more before choosing some of these routes.

Motorcycle crashes were up 7% in 2007 over 2006. Many people are coming to Arkansas and chasing the tail light in front of them with poor results.

I want to be able to return to the hotel and see the same people I saw that morning with big smiles and minimal poop in there pants.

Sorry if I seem a little fatherly, I have lived to be the age I am with great surprise. Each day I'm a day older amazes me. I want each of you to be on this journey with me.

Ride Safe out there.

Just as a reminder when you are in the groove and smoking those twisties. " To avoid smashing

into a hazard, you need to be able to bring the bike to a stop within the roadway you can see

at the moment." David Hough

Joey, Scott,

Didn't you guys do this route last year with Fencer and Borrec?? They were back in plenty of time and I remember they did leave very early. I coulda swore they did 400 miles.

You can also take a look at the Push Mtn loop I did at 292 miles. A little alteration can add in 123 Mt Judea and still get you roughly the same mileage for the day. Just a thought.

You are correct, Fencer, Borrec, Flapsup, FJRider, and myself did the Push Mtn loop. I remember being drained at the end but it was worth it!
