Here are some pics from our August, 2005 ride to Colorado from Orangevale (California). I was just going through my photos and wanted to post these. Some you may have seen before.

They call much of this road the Million Dollar Highway as it was constructed using mining tailings, which were found later to still have quite a bit of gold in them! The road is worth it!

This Road goes from Montrose to Durango. Ride it when you can and you WILL NOT be sorry!

Yup, sweet road, no doubt! Wifey and I did that on the GL1800 a few years back. Don't know why we didn't take any pictures, though?

Orange, that is your honey snapping those excellent photo's I hope or do you have the cruise control on?
Yep, Sherri takes all the mobile pics unless she isn't there. There were a few rides where I was taking pics...point and shoot type and they worked pretty well :)

I rode that route last summer as part of my NM-WA trip. It has some of the sweetest twisties and sweepers I've ever leaned into. I'm looking forward to doing it again this summer. Or maybe for a weekend trip this spring :p

I have heard some great things about 141 through Western Colorado too. That is one of the roads I've never been on.....yet.

Also, 145 from Cortez up to Teluride is a great ride along the Delores river. Really, I think any way you get from place to place in those mountains is going to be incredible.

My problem is I want the rides to be bigger and bigger and this whole thing about not having 8 weeks vacation sucks.
I have 12 months of built up personal leave and sick leave :bleh: Yea, I'll be burning some of it up this spring, summer and fall!!!!!!!!!!

I am happy for you! Now go enjoy that time because you earned it! :D

Nice photos, Orange.

Barring the unforseen, I'm doing that ride this summer. Going from SoCal to Flag, NE through 4 Corners, then Durango/Cortez/Silverton and so on then drop down into NM for a family gathering near Santa Fe.

Been wanting to do this for years, maybe as a leg on a Sturgis ride or something.
