I did a search and there were no other complaints of this, may not be a problem. When compressing the front suspension quickly, hitting bumps or braking, there is a definite fluid noise as I assume the fluid is going through the valving. I'm not used to this and wonder if it is an issue, besides being annoying. Figured it might be a combination of light front suspension and this being the most quiet bike I've ever had. Thoughts?

Yeah, new to me too. Never had this issue on any other bike. Seems odd that you'd hear the fluid in the suspension. Concerned it may be a bit aerated at is sounds gurgly. I'm getting a little weary of all the nuances this bike seems to provide.

It's too bad you feel that way. I have found this bike to be the most enjoyable one I have ever owned. I also feel that the FJR platform is the easiest to maintain, especially with the wealth of information available here and the other sandbox. I wish I could be of more assistance, but haven't a clue as to what is causing your issue. i would take the forks off and inspect the internals, flush and add new oil. How many miles are on the bike an when was the last time the fork oil was changed? Do you know what oil is in them? I just had GP suspension overhaul my forks. I had them apart for inspection a year earlier and everything looked fine. In less than a year the bushings were shot and had really fouled the oil. Dave at GP said the oil looked like mud.

Anyway, I hope things work out for you.

My tinnitus drowns all that stuff out. For all I know I might be driving a ticker.

But I'm HAPPY!! :yahoo:

I also have a strange noise from the front, can't tell if it is hydraulic. Sounds more like some plastic is loose somewhere and vibrates in the wind, it appears only on speeds 30 mph and higher. I have checked all the possible places when standing, not found anything loose. The bike has 13 000 miles on it. As it does not seem to have any effect on speed and handling, I just ignore it. A bit more sound on music and the problem is solved :D

The sound is annoying and definitely only on compression, independent of speed. I can live with the sound, but want to make sure the bike is tip top. Handling seems as good as ever, so not sure it is something I should worry about.

I just picked the bike up not long ago and I've put about 4k miles on it now, so 5k miles on it. I wouldn't expect the oil to be bad yet.

In any event, sounds like it is a bit of an anomaly, or my dog hearing is kicking in. Thanks all for the replies.

I've noticed the same thing on my Gen 1, and not on any of my other (non-FJR) bikes. I changed the fork oil last year so I don't think that has anything to do with it. I assumed all FJR's do it.

Alright, sounds like a fairly common occurrence. Guess I'll deal with it until I can save up for fork valves/cartridges.

Thanks all.
