I've talked to folks around here about trying to get this going, but we keep running into a snag with the setup.

Chainsaws: CHECK!

Outboards: CHECK!

Partying rednecks: Well, DUH!!!! CHECK!

Then we get to this: Body of water with a few inches of unbroken ice...... yeah, not so much.

Haha...That's cool. I gotta wonder, how hard is ice on a chainsaw blade? That looked like they were working their ***** off trying to get it cut.

Amazing how some people can turn alcohol into great ideas like that one. I'm guessing that's how it came about anyway.

Ohfercryingoutloud Zilla! Have you even ever seen real ice? I don't mean the cubed stuff used to make your drink cold. Damned southerners.

:)

Ok, my first thought was, there's definitely alcohol involved in this. Second, I can say that entering and exiting a rotating dance floor while drunk is hard enough, but to make it slick, with a ring of death and adding blades to your feet...yea, somebody's gonna get hurt.

But it'd be fun.

I live in NM. We do not walk on ice here. These huge ice covered ponds are a mystery to us. But, that's why we ride year round. Ha!

I think if it were actually attempted somewhere in the U.S. there'd be people from this agency or that telling you that you had to put railings up around the edge of both the carousel and the stationary ice to keep people from going into the water in between. They'd tell you that it had to be stopped to allow people to get on or off, and that emergency stop buttons would need to be placed at convenient intervals around and on the carousel. There would also be the matter of permits and licenses, an environmental impact study.

After all, affecting the environment strongly enough to build one of these on Lake Okeechobee is going to have a serious impact!

(This is by no means to be interpreted as a political comment!!!! :) )

Those aren't rednecks, they are precision engineers!!! I don't see the point of it, but if it makes them happy, and no baby seals were harmed in the construction and filming for said Icelandic carousel, more power to dem. If it were truly redneck, they would have a pair of 300horse Evinrudes hooked up. Maybe even a swamp buggy or a jet boat running on nitro methane driving that piece of ice at 30 to 35 mph.

As are most reasonable ideas, New Mexico.Go Leafs!

Of course not. That's why the South is so far ahead of the rest of America.
All in fun.

LOVE you fuckers.

Obviously Odot was not involved, if there were any Baby Seals invovled, He would have had a club harder than Beemerdons Irish Sheelilaly.

Baby Seal with an Eagle feather broth is to die for.....

As a dammed southerner, I wouldnt know so how thick do you think that ice is?
I've spent many a winter driving my car on frozen lakes in Minnesota. I liked to wait until there was at least 12 inches of ice but some would go out with less but didn't always make it out alive. Didn't see any cars just the atv on the ice but my guess is it's at least 6' thick. Looked cold by the way folks were dressed so it may be more.

I like Wayne's thinking, more horsepower baby!

It does give you an idea on how long winter is when you have time too think this stuff up.

And really, it was a lot of work and time spent for something that ends up being just a neat youtube video. Really shows you how much there is to do around there that they chose to do this.
