How thick and stiff is the pad? I have a Roadcrafter 1-piece that fits snug.

I'd like the back pad but not sure I'd be able to zip the jacket.

1/2" thick, 12-1/2" wide at widest portion, 24" long. Not stiff, as compared to shoulder or elbow armor. It is a pad that you can compress between two fingers with firm pressure.
