Anyone had the fuel coupling disconnect just under the rear of the tank on the left? Just happened to me about 250km into a 900km day. I was on the French Autoroute going about 130kph when the engine suddenly died. I suspect the fuel line was knocked loose by a tank bag strap flapping under the tank. I was able to just push the hose back on its coupling and finish the day, but I'm nervous about how secure this coupling is.

Can anyone clarify just how that fuel line hose is supposed to be secured in place? Maybe I need a new clamp (there's some odd little plastic thing on the end of the hose that doesn't look like it does much). Thanks.

It's extremely secure when installed correctly-yours wasn't. The "odd plastic thing" is both a locater and a secondary retainer.

+1 you can't get that thing off unless you pull the side lock slider thing. I doubt a tank bag strap unless it wasn't put on properly to begin with.

Seems to me that the last "mechanic" that had the tank off didn't properly fasten the connector and the associated clip.

My only problem with that connector is getting the da thing to unfasten!!!

Thanks for the comments. I'm in southern UK this week, and am due for the 2-year inspection and maintenance back in Germany in a few weeks. I added a rubber band to be sure the fuel line stays put on the trip back to Germany (900+ km). The inspection will be just before the end of Yamaha-Europe's standard 2-year warranty, so I will tell them that I think that plastic thingee (clamp?) was defective.
