It's been about a year since I installed my expanded fuel tank. At that time I installed a new fuel pump gasket.
No problems were noticed when I had the tank off for ACC install about 4 months ago.
I had the tank off again last weekend for some farkle wiring and noticed a greasy residue on the heat blanket. Looking under the tank confirmed that residue was fuel, and apparently coming from my new gasket.
As nothing was loose I decided I must have pinched it and a new one was in order.
I was surprised to find the listed part number 5JW-24486-00 no longer available.
A bit of google-fu located a supersession to 19B-24486-01.
There were no pinches or any other problems visible when I took it apart tonight.
One side of it is flat and the other beveled. I had the flat side in the flat recess of the pump housing.
Concerned this might be incorrect I checked the WSM, no mention of the gaskets proper orientation. I did find a recall for the Super Tenere that showed a similar setup with the flat side in the fuel pump housing.
Either I'm on the wrong track or there was some odd problem with the first replacement gasket.
If anyone has more info on the supersession, I'd love to hear it
