Funny thing, the ad says the product is near Woodstock, NY. I live very near Woodstock, NY and I very rarely see another FJR in the area and never a blue one other than my own. Guess I'm just curious.

I went with a product called thermo-tec (think that was the brand) got it from a mail order hi performance warehouse (Jegs).I affixxed it to the tank as it is self adhesive on 1 side and foil lined on the other. This guy did a great job of cutting to fit, but I have a concern about moisture making the pad part that sits next to the tank wet ot the moisture not fully evaporating.

I used Cool-It insulating mat from Thermo Tec Link

It's basicly fiberglass insulation sandwiched in foil.

I put it on the tank with spray adhesive (on the mat) and closed up the edges with foil tape. Makes a big difference, the half assed attempt Yamaha made with foil tape alone on the "05 was lame at best.

Thanks to all for the replies. I've ordered the Cool-it Thermo Tec that the Evil Henchman recommended and will install soon. Total was $56.85 which includes a 24 X 48 mat, a can of spray adhesive and shipping. Ran the tank down to the flashing fuel indicator in 95 degree heat which was enough to convince me that this mod is needed!

Due to some family illness issues, I haven't had the opportunity to ride very often. Had put the insulation on during the early spring. Had the bike out earlier in the week and seemed to be cooler and was trying to figure out why then remembered the thermo tec applications. Think it was worth the $$for sure.

Ok, but has anyone out there on this list bought this kit from ebay? I see that there has been sales of this from his feedback. It looks like an easy way to go and is cheaper than the $57 or so for the material mentioned above.

Tom

One quick question?

How much does each proxy get for posting a lead in each of the FJR forums?

--update after WC's Reply--

10-roger

It was half in jest about the sudden appearance of "did anyone see..." type posts from one or two low-post-count members that got me wondering. ;)

Iggy and I have done a little informal check on Jon, and he appears to be a legit guy. Take a look at his post history, and you'll see he's not an obtrusive vendor by any means. He's also does a fair-size business on eBay for the past three years (and earn a 100% feedback rating!).

That having been said, Jon, since you did sorta come in strong here on this thread promoting your wares (albeit late), I will relocate this thread to the vendor section.

Different subject.... Jon, I think the new side-panel FJR decals your have on your site (shown below; mimics the 2006 FJR badging in the same location) are kick-***... I just PayPal'ed ya some $$$ for a set. B)

If it is ok, I would like to notify FJR forum members of new product releases, …otherwise you will probably just see them on eBay.
No, no... notifying us here is perfectly fine, though we'll insist you used the Vendor section, please.

Jon, I'm in Shandaken. You may have seen me commuting on my '05 down 28. I rarely see another FJR in the area.

Probably not me at the West Hurley elementary school but very likely in Woodstock. I like to ride 212 from Woodstock to Phoenicia. I normally ride with the Givi 46 on the bike and no side bags. And now you'll know it's me if you see my new very bright LED tail and brake lights in the back of the Givi. :)
