I read that removing both rubber pieces on the fuel tank sides would promote, by far, a cooler fuel tank. Any other FJR owners have tried this. Any known issues regarding that modification ??

Thanks

I haven't thied that, but I tend to think that the cooler tank is a result of the air escaping right onto your knees... give it a try and let us know :boss:

I tried it for about a week and didn't find it any better; others may disagree. I ended up putting the rubber panels back in. The removal of the pads just moved the hot air from the lower leg to the upper leg; so it was a trade off at best. It's worth a try and easy to do so try it for yourself.

Agree totally with C&C. I tried this on a trip to NC and the only thing it did was blow air on my knees instead of on the lower leg. Not worth the effort or result IMHO.

Your results may differ and it takes only about 15 minutes to make the change so give it a try. Me, I am probably going to do the bottom of the tank and the closed cell AC foam on the lower fairings next. Good luck. :agent:

I agree with FLRoadking. I took them out for a couple of weeks, but put them back in. While not having them installed may help a bit stoplight to stoplight, I think they slow down the flow-thru effect at highway speed. As reported, you sure can feel the additional heat on your upper thighs. I'm thinkin this mod may be more effective for cool/cold weather riding. I'm going to give it a try next Fall/Winter.....
