Just picked up a 2014 ES from Heinen's. $12,500 + $175 set-up. Told my wife that at that price I should get 2! (didn't go over well)

$11,800 isn't that great of a deal for a new 2012. There are several listed on Cycle Trader for the mid-$10K range. Since my '06 was totaled last week, I put a deposit down on a new 2012 with an OTD price of $10,600. The dealership had 3 2012s in stock, and my buddy and I made a deal to take 2 off their hands. I think the dealer really wants them off the floor. I'll fly to Florida on the 31st to take delivery and start the long ride home.

Where in Florida?

Morecowbell, You are aware CA DMV will not let you license the bike with less than 7500 miles on the clock unless it is a CA model. It is unlikely a bike sold new in FL is a CA model. You could perhaps get it in if you can show you have a FL address. Some years ago I bought a bike in NC from my nephew and had it licensed in NC under my nephew's address and my name. CA accepted the bike with 1100 miles on the clock. Good luck, I hope it works out OK.

FWIW, I bought my '07 (slightly used) from a guy in Connecticut and it happened to be a CA bike (had been purchased locally). (I agree that its not likely that the '12 will be CA compliant) If it wasn't so late in the year, I imagine that one could manage to find a 7500 mile route between Florida and California! Harder to do in November!

If you're going to buy from Heinen's, make sure you get everything you pay for. I bought my '07 new from them, and they did not ship the 3rd lock, or the plugs for the side bags.

Art, thanks for the reminder. The CA 7500 mile rule has always been a real head-scratcher for me. Does anyone know why the # is 7500? It seems pretty random to me.
Of the three 2012s in stock in Clearwater, one is a CA-spec bike, and the other two are 49-state bikes. My buddy and I got the two 49-state units. We both have a plan for registration that works with the CA rule. I'm looking forward to the ride home!

I live in Vegas and have a 2012. When you get close you are welcome to leave it at my house and I will put some miles on it for you. Took mine to the Arctic Circle in June.
