I have a 2007 FJR1300 AEW. I think I am somewhat mechanically inclined. So anyways....
I ordered G2 throttle tamer with the 400 cam. I received it 5 days later (there was a weekend inbetween). Nicely packaged with generic instructions (installation showed installation on dirt bike).
I took plenty of pics for reference point. I marked grip, seam, and housing with a chalk mark.
I was able to proivide enough slack to slide the grip/throttle assembly off end of tube.
Most people said they had success with compressed air. Maybe it's because my bike is new or maybe I'm an idiot but they wouldnt budge.
Finally I used the brute force method and sawed off cam part then wrapped grip and broke the plastic tube with hammer and yes I do have heated grips.
Using reference marks I used soapy water to slide grip onto new throttle tube. My mistake was to slide it all the way flush with the cam. There should be a small gap near the cam for the housing dividers to slide into and so it won't bind. Luckily I was able to pull the grip off a little. If I did it again I would make sure the grip on the outside is flush with the end of the tube.
The hard part was trying to get the throttle cables and heater cables back in th housing they kept popping out.
I aligned everything and put housing screws in. Tested it with bike off and hurray no binding. Actually had less free play also.
Started it up and really liked the results. Minimal dead spot and less jerkiness at low speeds and seems to shift smoother.
Overall an easy mod if you can get the blasted grips off and make sure you align everything properly.
And yes my grip heaters still work.
I hope this helps someone.
