I have been doing some reading on the G2 Throtal mod, and was wondering if it was something that worked on the 2005/Gen 1 bikes too? Im trying to smooth out the low-speed slight throtal opening portion on my bike..To date, I have re-sinked the throtal blades, re-set the tension the cables, and made sure evrything was lubed up right. I havent done the throtal spring yet, but its on my list as well...Any help/info would be great...Thanks

Sean

Sean, since no one is fessing up I could offer my limited knowledge on the subject. I am not certain without doing the searches but think some if any who own a Gen I FJR have installed the G2. The reason folks put the G2 on the Gen II bikes is Yamaha made the pully on the throttle bodies in cam form (unlike the Gen I's), that would give a quicker throttle response but this change made for some unhappy customers in that the throttle was too abrupt especially at low speeds and caused throttle control problems as in a jerky unstable throttle. The G2 cam offset the shape of the "cam" pully on the other end and smoothed out the throttle transition which allowed for more precise input and control. Also the "Fred Shim" which was a piece of copper wire installed under the throttle cable on the throttle body pully (to offset the cam shape), did basically the same thing but was considered by some to be somewhat unsafe as the shim might come out and interfere with throttle operation. I know some with the Gen I bikes have done the spring mod like on the Gen II's but don't think you might need the G2. Good luck and let us know how you made out. PM. <>< ;)

G2 Throtal Mod Question

Does that rhyme with scrotal?

I don't want a scrotal mod.... I don't even want a scrotal mod question.

Yep, G2 helped slightly on abrupt throttle on my '04. Few have gone back but most that have released center throttle spring, like me, like it. I used a piece of safety (w/loop in one end) to unhook the spring & then tied off the other end of the safety wire so I could put it back on if necessary. Later,,, De
