Do I need something else besides the N/Line Garmin bracket to mount to my shelf? Specifically, do I need a Garmin motorcycle mounting kit too? If yes, where did you buy yours?

I would think there is some sort of bracket that the 2730 mounts to. Be it in a car, boat of on the bike. Edit: see below.
I fabricated a "mount" that attached my Zumo motorcycle specific (though you probably could use the Garmin bracket anywhere) bracket to the N/Line shelf.

The garmin part number is for the bracket is 010-10495-00
Mine came labled as "Motorcycle Mount, Kit Streetpilot 2610" I have checked it and it fits. The picture of the bracket in Capt. Bob's link shows the bracket upside down.
I got mine on flea-bay also for about the same price
