I ran into an interesting article comparing changes made to GPS technology on units introduced at $500 over the last 3 years at https://www.informationweek.com/story/showA...cleID=170701704. Basically, technology is being signifcantly updated annually for the same price. So even last year's GPS doesn't have near the features of items coming out now. AND perhaps the trend will continue -- but it's hard to believe it will continue at the same rate.

So, has anyone tried the Garmin Quest or Quest II? They appear to be quite incredible units.

I have a Quest, great little unit, I have mine mounted with a Garmin Motorcycle Cradle on a Stem Stand.

I would have preferred the Quest2, as I don't really like being dependant on access to a Windows computer to upload map details, off course you pay for the extra memory and there are some trip planning draw backs to the self contained unit. Unfortunatly for me, Garmin released the Quest2 a couple weeks after I purchased my Quest.

I actually posted mine ford sale at a reasonalble price in the Classified section on this forum. Not too much interest at the time . . . .

Have the Quest mounted just like gryphon68. It works great for me. I don't need the whole US in the unit for detailed maps. At the present time I have all of MN, WI, ND, SD, and most of Iowa in the Quest and still have enough memory to add a couple of more states. If I was an Ironbutt rider or had poor vision I would get one of the bigger units.

Plus, it is small and you can through it in your pocket and take it on a hike.

My @ cents,

Dana
