Yamaha seems to have only a part #, sans specs, what are folks using? I still have a jug of Red Line 75W90 high performance synthetic gear oil which as I recall was top of the line stuff. Tuff when you have no manufacturers specs, like for API apps.

Gunny.
I use what ever I can find that's cheap, last time it was Lucas Oil Heavy Duty 80w-90.

Mobile 1 synthetic 75/90. Well priced, and works perfectly.

Use whatever floats your boat, but I would make sure its synthetic.

From the Beemer world of failed final drives....

we take Gear Oil seriously...

Mobil 1 75/140 lube of choice.

Change ever 10,000 miles.
thought we were talking FJR good quality ...
I think what he meant is if a lube prevents failure in trouble prone BMW drives, it will work perfectly fine in an FJR. I had a BMW drive fail on a K bike I had, dealer replaced under warranty, and recommended the Redline shockproof heavy. New drive went 50,000+ miles with no further issues and the FJR has had the same in it since 3000 miles. Changed during each oil/filter change at 5000 mile intervals. Drive should last 200,000 miles if I keep it that long. Only 77,000 on it now.
