BTW, Paul checked and it's a SR346 for Gen 1. (SR357 is the Gen 2 rack)

Thats a great price for that setup. Unfortunately it won't work with my monolock case without a spendy adapter.

It's not an exaggeration to say that the reason Yamaha has built three generations of FJRs in 13 model years is because the Gen.I was such a great motorcycle. I applaud the refinements, but in terms of getting the formula right and providing what the demographic wanted, the Gen.I rocked . . . and still does.

I agree with exskibum above. A lot of Gen II and III bikes got sold to owners of Gen I. Not because the Gen I was worn out, but because owners wanted something newer, some even wanted the "upgrades." That's one reason why continuous cycles of upgrades are introduced - to entice owners to buy again. I've been riding close to 40 years and am unaware of any other motorcycle that has proven as durable as the basic FJR platform - powertrain and chassis - in terms of design and actual problem-free ownership (maybe the basic "Boxer" qualifies). I just bought another Gen I - my third - with 9,000 miles on it. This could literally be my last motorcycle. I doubt I could wear it out in the years I have left. So far I've put 100,000 miles on Gen I bikes and not one mechanical issue.

Agreed ! I've ridden well over 350K on Gen I's. An '03 bought new, 2 '04's #2 (w/202K on it and still running great). Just bought TWO more ! An '04 w/17K on it and an '05 w/38K. Long story but the old '04 (202K is for sale) as well as the "new" '04 that has 17K miles on it. I've not not yet posted these but hope to soon...5 bikes and 2 cars in a 2 car garage is a PITA !
