Lots of you talk of heated grips, improved power output and access, color options, better seat, etc, so this topic isn't about anything normally mentioned or wished for in the future of this machine. I'd like to hear some (serious) radically different ideas to consider from the existing bike, like the exhaust for instance: Anyone think it would be a good idea to give the next incarnation of this bike an undertail or undercarriage exhaust? It seems that some on here have talked of clearance issues so I'm asking for opinions on function and/or esthetics. Any other ideas might help pass the wintery minutes too so...

Ready. Set... hold on.

P.S. Don't get me wrong. I love and want this bike and am just dreaming about the future and maybe looking to make some more photo alterations. Besides, by the time I get around to the purchase, we might be looking at a Gen III.

OK. Ready. Set. Go.

OK I'll play...

There aren't a lot of things I would change but a number of things I'd tweak.

- Fix the windshield angles, the down angle is fine, and maintaining that angle as it rises would be best as opposed to flipping it forward more. This would should be an easy fix. While you're at it, it should start about an inch lower and raise about an inch higher.

- Put the battery where it belongs, under the seat, and give us more farkle room up front.

- Since this is a ST bike, build in a switched barrier bar... No need to go crazy, (4) switched Aux circuits would be fine from the factory.

- Heated grips as standard would be nice but not a deal breaker.

- For this type a bike undertail exhaust doesn't matter much to me, I kind of like the dual lower cans.

- More bar adjust ability 'out of the box'. If bar risers are added a good percentage of the time, give the option from the get go, not just a couple mm front and back but a good inch up/down too.

- A better seat from the factory would be nice as well.

- A better (read more internal square shape) for the bags, so things would be easier to fit in them, while you're at it, steal the Givi e41 top access panel idea.

- Fix the up front outlet so that it's at least a 10A outlet, not just 3A

- Easier to read gauges, while I don't think the 06 gauges are horrible, there is a time during twilight that I have an issue with them.

- Fix the side stand :)

- If the side wing things are really useful, and that's debatable, you shouldn't need a screwdriver to use them, perhaps that's to discourage you from changing them while you're riding, and I get that, but it shouldn't require any tools.

That's it for now, I'm generally pretty happy with this bike. I of course wouldn't want any changes to negatively affect it's $ to performance value ratio.

1) You're at least a year too early. It's not going to be 2009 they do a redo, but probably 2010. .......and yes, I will bet money that it won't be earlier than 2010.

2) When we went through this chum exercise in for the 2006.......it seemed like batted less than .250 on guesses. In fact, I would view this thread as what WON'T happen.

However, have fun.....with the thread in it's new home.

I am not so sure it will be that long. There was a lot of side-by-side comparos done on ST bikes this year. More so then previous IMHO. I can see YamaMama maybe kicking it up a notch to respond to the new Conny and the Beemer.

To stay on track, I would like to see work to make it lighter. Course this would take a lot of R&D and cost, but I can hope.

Also, any tie-down hooks would be nice, better shaped sidebags like Renegade mentioned and better looking rear fender. I know some of you have taken the dremmel to yours but I haven't been brave enough in my creativity.

I would like to see a larger engine with more midrange punch to pull the newer gear ratios and the added weight.

Loosing some bike weight would be a good thing. Seems to be inching away from Sport and moving toward Tourer.

Ok, you mentioned the exhuast, no under seat exhuast IMO would work on this bike especially runing sidebags. Now running a single on the right for a clean look freeing up the pumpkin side. But not using a bazooka can like the C-14, but keeping the size as is buy keeping the smog exhaust gear under the bike. PM. <><

Look what I started. Sorry.
Ahhhh, Grasshopper....the meaningful question could be.......

"Have you learned your lesson regarding the posting of these types of threads?" :dribble:

(You did notice how quickly Ignacio identified the end result and moved it to NEPRT, didn't you?)

We can let it die now.
Wanna bet????? Prolly not!

This thing will take on a life of its own, they always do...... :yahoo:

Oh , what the hell - -

1. Handle bar adjustments with more rear movement and a height adjustment (a la BMW K1200GT)

2. Optional Cruse Control (a la Royal Star Venture)

3. Communication (intercom) with optional CB (a la Royal Star Venture) or GMRS

4. GPS option (a la Royal Star Venture)

5. Heated seat(s) option

6. Adjustable foot pegs w/highway pegs

7. 6 speed tranny

8. Incorporate the technology of the front end off the GTS 1000 (Oh Yes!)

9. Replace the rear spring/shock with a REAL Ohlin's unit.

10. Standard 5 or is it 7 year warranty like the Royal Star Venture (hell, we're paying the same price for the FJR as the Royal Star Venture)

The other suggestions are very good so I won't include them, but defiantly needed IE: Battery placement w/external jumper terminals, windshield redesign/angle, integrated sliders (front and rear, a al Honda ST1300)

Hey, if your going to dream, dream big!
