Has anyone with a Gen III found a Yamaha installed 2 pin SAE connector at the battery? I have seen several ES models with the connector.

No, it didn't come with one, but I brought my own and had dealer install it before I took delivery.

I think there are a number of dealers who install one during "prep" for all the new bikes they sell. I have never heard of one being there "from the factory".

For the hundredth time. ......

The FJR does NOT come from the factory with am SAE connector!

If yours came with one then the dealer put it on as a courtesy.

Despite hearing SkooterG say it for the hundredth time .......

Mine came with an SAE pigtail connected straight to the battery, but my (courteous) salesman had the assemblers put it on. "You'll probably be needing electric gear in the winter ...."

I'll just say this once. I posted the poll before I read your 99 other statements about the connector NOT being a factory installed part.

The poll still stands, only now it means more about the 'above and beyond', the 'unexpected pleasant surprise' and the 'extra value' supplied by the dealer that installed the connector on ??? number of FJRs and may or may not be related to bike model. Let the poll roll. It's odd timing that the connector suddenly started being installed concurrent with the introduction of the Gen III after 12 years of not being installed.

Poll is a little hosed up, to post your vote you have to answer both questions, however, if your bike didn't come with a SAE connector how are you supposed to answer question #2?

My 1300A has one now because I put one on there

Ditto. I had to answer #2 falsely to register a correct answer to #1. It has one entirely because I put one on and definitely did not have one when I bought it new from the dealer.

You suppose dealers were [are] adding 'tender pigtails due to the original PITA battery access on the '13s?

Just a thought...

Nope.

My experience is that dealers either do it, or don't, on all models. And not for their own benefit, but for their customers.

Nope.

At the fantastic price I paid, I expected no extra's, and did not receive any.....outside of a great motorcycle.

(I added the mud flap too on my 2014a).

Like many of the others, I installed my own.

My dealer & I did talk about it. I wanted to do it myself as an exercise in getting to the battery at my leisure versus in an emergency in the dark etc. He would have done it otherwise for me at initial prep.
