Oh boy. Anyone know what is going on?

There have been a few instances lately when the bike has not started and the instrument cluster read "019." Admittedly, sometimes I have been a little quick on the starter button in letting the fuel pump cycle on start up. I thought the code was due to not enough fuel at the injectors to start.

Today, at about 15 Mph, the engine died and read code 019. Later in the day it happened again, only at a faster speed when accelerating in traffic on the freeway.

This issue is a safety concern. Anyone know what's up? I see in other threads that 019 on previous models has related to the side stand switch. Not sure what's going on here.

In the end, it will probably have to go to the dealership for warranty work. I thought I'd bring it up here incase anyone has info.

Ignacio, if this topic has come up, I apologize for the new thread. Neither "code" nor "019" seem to be searchable terms.

Thanks!

Thank you SO MUCH for actually including what you tried searching on. Seriously, thank you!

Now I can help you hone your search skills.

Did you try a variation on it of "code 19" as one term and without the leading 0 to the code? I see 43 threads on this...many of which appear to be related to your issue....including this one.

I tried Code 019, without quotation marks. Does it help to use quotations?
Yes. If you don't the three letter part won't even search on this forum.

But, even you do put a quote...you won't find much because other people called it Code 19 over the years....only you appear to have typed Code 019.

Hence specifically searching on what I have in bold as "code 19" including the quotes.

Ha. Well thanks. I checked the other thread.

I shall put dry graphite/contact cleaner up in there and see if that helps. I shall also see if there is a recall. If there was a recall on 2015 FJR ignition it seems likely that is the problem. I'll have to get in touch with the dealer.

Thanks for the search tip, and the link!

I had to replace the kick stand switch on my 2013. Lubing it did not help at all on mine. I would recommend ordering the screw that hold it on just in case, They have loctite on them so you might heat them slightly before you remove them and use a quality screwdriver.

For any interested parties:

I rode to Autozone this AM to pick up some electrical contact cleaner. The trip is about 3 miles. The bike cut out briefly once on the way.

I brought home the contact cleaner and sprayed a bunch down in the barrel of the ignition (not up through the weep-hole at the bottom, but some came out there).

I also sprayed a bunch around the plunger on the side stand switch and pushed the plunger all the way in and out with a screwdriver (the stand itself only moves the plunger in a little). I got a quick 19 code when I first turned it on, and then it went away and I couldn't make it replicate the code.

I'm happy to report that I had no issues on my 150 mile jaunt through the twisties afterwards. Knock on wood, hopefully all else remains trouble-free!

I haven't looked to see if the 2015 sidestand switch is changed from the Gen II switch, but if it's the same you can't clean it. The Gen I apparently allowed for disassembly and cleaning, but the Gen II one is "sealed". I know because my 2007 died a couple times due to a failing switch that almost got me killed one day when I smoked onto the freeway over to the fast lane, only to have the bike die. Luckily there was about 3 foot of left side shoulder for me to coast on across the bridge until I got to a wider section.

I tried spraying contact cleaner into the switch and also took it off and ran it in an ultrasonic cleaner. No help.

BTW, it's easy to bypass on a Gen II if you're so inclined (I did for about a year until I placed another Yamaha parts order and got a new one).
