I can't seem to get my '07 up on the center stand with out straining my notoriously bad lower back. On my Honda ST1100 there was a fold-out handle that I could wedge my right knee under to put it on the stand with my calf muscle. The hand-hold on the FJR is not much use to me because I have to bend to reach it, so I end up using the passenger grab rail and the handlebar, which strains the back

Has anyone found a "trick" that makes it easier???

Yes, but you have to first use the search to find +centerstand +trick. Once you do....you'll see how often this subject has been discussed before.

How will that help? You may ask.... Well, following the search, you'll click on so many links that your finger will be so strong that you can lift the bike onto the sidestand with just your index finger....

You're exactly right Scythian.

Another benefit will be that the very first post, second post, and other posts will answer the question in such excruciating detail other members of the board won't have to whittle their fingers to the bone and retype everything......yet again. Think of the time saved.

Final benefit will be the newbie will get a glimpse of the treasure trove of information stored in this place, how one can find easily that information, and not have to be a slave to board elders by asking questions for things discussed so often. The proverbial man, fish, and chalkboard with diagrams. ;)

It's a win-win-win!

This handy little device should help you out...it will provide you with some mechanical advantage in your effort to put the bike on its center stand. It's pricey, but may be worth it.

I couldn't get the hang of it for years and then, one day, did it and have never had a problem since. I got hung up on the "pull up on the hand hold and push back with your foot" thing. What worked very simply for me is I grip the hand hold, tilt the bike until the bike hits the stand's balance point and then just step right onto the stand with all my weight. It just "pops" up. Sometimes if the bike is tilted forward a bit on an incline I may have to bias my weight toward the rear as I stand up on the stand, but not much. I also have a touchy back-if I do pull up a bit with my hand at times, it's not much. I suggest having a friend help out to steady the bike so you can experiment without worrying. Once you get it, you never lose it.

Place a 2" x 6" about 18" long with one end cut at about a 45 degree angle behind the rear wheel. Roll the wheel onto the board, lower center stand and lift/push. It will rise like a sailor's **** on leave.

Thanks Gun!!

I bought one and it works like a charm...

Just 'STAND' (put all yer weight) on the center stand tang and bingo! But this can only be done after you replace your dino with synthetic (or is it the other way around), figure out why your only getting 200 miles per tank, and determine why the Silver ones are fastest!

It takes absolutly no upper body strength to put the FJR up on the center stand. Its all about pucking down on the Tang as mike stated. use your hands and arms to only guild the bike
