I think I remember seeing a thread somewhere about fathers and sons riding. Don't recall seeing anything about mums and daughters so thought I'd share that my daughter, Shannon, just passed her MSF course last weekend. We have been riding dirt bikes together for about three years. A year or so ago she asked when she could get her first street bike... I said when she was 40, like her mom. Needless to say, that didn't go over too well!! :glare: So, once she has her drivers' license (behind the wheel test tomorrow), she'll spend some time in a cage getting to know the ways of the commuting world and they we'll talk about a street bike (most likely a 250 of some sort for starters). Needless to say I was really proud of her and I"m looking forward to the day when we'll get to share some (s)miles together! B)

Turns out that the MSF coaches were riding friends of mine, Marles and Logan, so I knew she was in good hands!

I didn't take many photos while she was actually taking the course as they discourage family and friends from ogling so as not to make the students nervous but I did get this one as they were just starting. Shannon is in the 2nd line, red helmet.

Hey Tyler, that's fandamntasic for both of ya :yahoo: :yahoo:

While I understand your rationale, I have to say you're a "mean mommy" for lettin' her take the course, get all excited, and then have to cage it for what will seem like an eternity to her I'm sure. But I know, dirt and street are very different.

VPup

BTW - she's a spittin' image from what I've seen.......she does spit doesn't she?

Congrats on your daughter's success. I am telling you now though you had better lock her in her room and keep her there until she is about 29. I bet the boys are already lurking around the house because she is a cutie.

50 Thumbs-Up to Shannon (and mom too) from RenoJohn.

.....Nice, very very nice.

Tyler sometime I'll have to tell you the story of Kathryn taking the MSF (3-day) course with a pack of girlfriends.

When is she going to get a FJR?????

Um, Mom first, tyvm... :p
O I see

Talked my daughter into taking a Beginner MSF course with me when she was 16. She passed just fine and according to the instructor, I did also (barely). :glare:

Bought my daughter a used 250 Ninja. Went for a short country ride on the road directly behind the house. Riding ahead of me, she crashed at 25 mph and got scratched up some. Unfortunately, she has never rode again. Want to buy a 250 Ninja?

Best to your daughter and I hope she sticks with it! The desire kinda has to be in one's blood!

Congrats!

My daughter won't even get on my bike! Wishing you many safe miles together!

Greg

  my son got his first cycle (compliments of dad) at the tinder age of 26. My wife and I had a knock down , drag out fight about it , and I came out on top. I can recall my old man telling me how dangerous they are. At the age of 51 , I got my first bike and have never regreted one minute of it. To think I wasted 30 years of my life being without two wheel transportion. Your daughter will love you for this !!! May you have many rides together. Mark :clapping: :clapping:
