So Im looking to purchase a E55 givi topbox for my trip in July from Jersey to Nashville, and I will most likely be loading the topbox with alot of clothes, goodies, accessories, etc. I have been reading on this forum that if your going to load up the topbox the best mount is the SR357 (i have a 2009 FJR). I understand this but would much rather get the premier cycle mount because its more than just a mount for the givi.

So im wondering if anybody has the premier mount with a topbox and if your loading the topbox, do you have any problems with wobble or anything.

thanks,

josh

If you're going to be loading it heavy for a full trip, go with the SR357. It has more mounting points, which equals greater load distribution. You can always remove the Givi plate, and fabricate your own luggage plate when you're not using the Givi. There are only 4 bolts that hold it on.

There is a really good illustration of the Premiere Rack on a Gen I here. link

I have the E55, and it is a huge case. The SR357 mount adds structure that takes the load off the rear subframe and plastic composite stock rack. I think a low profile rack on the OEM tailpiece LOOKS better, but it can't match the cantelevered weigh distribution design of the SR357. On the other hand, I'm not aware of a premiere rack failing, but I think the Gerauld rack was associated with some subframe fractures. Go with what makes you happy.

I have a PCA rack, but no top box. I would think that the Givi rack is the ideal way to go for maximum top box support. There is this failure from earlier this year to consider with a top box and PCA rack. There's no telling if was due to an inadvertent overload, flawed OEM rack, or simple material fatigue. But on the other hand, many people are running a PCA rack with top box without problems.

I am running the first generation PCA rack /w Givi adapter and E52. I have not had any issues with it other than it does seem to allow more flex then the SR357 - most noticeable when it's empty or a light load in it.. I have run it loaded, probably over loaded if you have ever seen my wife pack, with no visible issues.

I have the Givi E 55 topcase and the Premier mount. I am very pleased with the set up. Very stable and provides a versatile mount when not using the topcase.

have you had any issues with stability. like have you packed the topcase, and had any issues. im worried about wobble and basically the mount to break because of the heavyness.

I have the Givi E52 with the PCA rack. I like the rack but it does bounce around alot with the E52 mounted. I have ridden behind riders with the SR357 and there racks  seem to keep their top boxes more stable. If I was going to due it over again I would use the SR357 mount.

I have the E52 & PCA mount on my 08. I generally put my camera & lenses in there as well as a laptop on my long rides. I would guess its pretty loaded, weight wise & have had no issues with it for over 25K miles.
