Just pull really hard on it (on the end opposite the two screws). It's harder than it should be.

However, you'll be better off just removing it altogether, just unscrew it and it comes off. It's pretty much worthless for anything other than taking up a surprising amount of space in the case. You'll find helmets and backpacks and other stuff fits in the case much eaiser if you get rid of that piece of plastic.

It is very difficult to open, as you have experienced. I took mine off...IIRC, 2 or 3 little screws. And, I think I opened it only once w/ my finger tips before I removed it.

Mine has also been removed. Surprising how such a little bit of room makes such a difference.

My helmet fits so much better with it gone.

Thanks - I thought I was going to break the case tring to open it. It's gone now.
