Inspired by a fellow Pashnit brother from Bakersfield, Groucho on his new GS-1200 Adventure, I decided to explore an alternate route over the Tehachapi mountains to Stallion Springs. It can be done.
Route Map
The weather was perfect and the wildflowers were in full bloom.
The road starts out here and climbs over 3000' in 15 miles.
Mostly open range cattle country (Tejon Ranch). Saw two bulls locking horns over something. Later saw a small herd of elk on the ridgeline.
Three gates to traverse.
Back to civilization in Stallion Springs. Ridden carefully, the FJR makes a fine exploration vehicle!
