Received my GoodtoGo pass for the FJR yesterday. FJR and car are already registered with a Pay by Plate Account. WA state is requiring a motorcycle pass to use I-405 between Bellevue and Lynnwood. The pass is free while supplies last. Does anyone have a Motorcycle pass mounted on their FJR and where did you mount it? I am not enthusiastic about placing it on one of the headlights as stated in the instruction pamphlet that comes with the pass.

A friend has a Honda ST and he mounts his on lower part of windshield has not noticed any problems mounted there.

And some of us old cranky farts change the windshields, basically a summer shield and winter/rain shield. So guess mine is going to have to go on the headlight.

There is some litigation going on right now about having to have a active good-to-go pass, rather than just a inactive but installed good-to-go pass on motorcycles.

I think it states to mount on the top of the headlight.
Three inches from the bottom of the round headlight shown in the instructions. Called GoodtoGo office and was told either headlight is OK. Found an answer in the FAQ section that said it can be mounted on the windshield if there is no room on the headlight. The latest information I have seen is that to use the Express Lanes between Bellevue and Lynnwood a pass is required but you are not required to open an account for $30.00. Since I already have a Pay by Plate with both my car and the FJR registered that part doesn't concern me.

Send a PM to a newb called Fleetfoot. He can explain how to get it inside the headlight.

Seriously, I worry about how secure something like this is on your bike--I'm assuming this Good to Go pass, which I'm not familiar with, is some kind of a transponder? Could it be stolen and used by someone else? It's kind of an issue on a bike when there's no secure place to put a pass or parking ticket inside of something. Where on an FJR can you do that? Here in Cali regular users of toll roads and bridges can get a "FasTrak" pass to bypass lines at pay points, and legislation is in the works to add more toll lanes, and I don't know where they'd be, so I'm thinking about it.

And what does a visitor to your area--me, for example--do if I want to take a road like this and find I need a pass? Do they have toll booths too?

I just sent in to wasdot for my free one, said 6-8 weeks. What if you have two bikes, are these things removable from bike to bike?

I would just ride and see if they bother to send anything to out of staters. Did that on a toll bridge in Vancouver BC with no way to pay, never heard a thing.

WASDOT asked for no vehicle info for the bike, must be just a blank pass sticker or transponder that says it is a motorcycle to go along with the picture? Course they will still see your license plate.

The good to go pass is a sticker that you put on with a RFID chip behind it. If someone trys to pull it off, it is destroyed and unusable

I wonder if you can laminate it and just rig up a holder (or tape it) so you can use for various bikes.

...I guess I'll have to give in and get a pass if I want to use 405. How much more time do I have to get a "free" pass?

Last I heard this thing was to go active in September. I think the unstated agenda is to let "local" frequent riders get to use this section for free but nail the other bikers (like Californians) as though they were cars.

I stuck mine on the plastic trim piece on the windshield. If you have multiple bikes you could mount on your helmet.

Achiu, that is where I think I am going to put mine also. Have you had it there long enough to know whether it works or not ? There is a answer in the FAQ section that states it can be mounted to the windshield so I thought the trim piece was a possibility also.. The adhesive is a one time use and as Auburn pointed out once it is in place any attempt to remove it will also destroy it.

Visitors will receive a bill in the mail if the bike can be identified by the license plate. This particular section of I-405 is a bit of a puzzle and I am not sure why a pass/trransponder is being required. Maybe no cameras as there are on the eat end of the 520 bridge. Experimental/testing for future? I think that is probable.

There is a user, Texas, I see over on the PNW Riders board who has been very ivolved with legistative matters for some time. He posted something about this whole topec a couple of weeks ago with accurate information. PNWRiders just changed the layout of their site and it looks like PM is no longer possible.

I have had it since the beginning of the toll. Had it on my 06 now my 09, I would check your account on line to be sure it's accurate, also I would not have them auto deduct from your account. I replenish my account manually. When you ride on the 167 car pool it will deduct then add it back after it recognize as a motorcycle pass.
