Something like this look familiar on your bike?
After several recent posts about folks stripping their oil drain plugs, I offer the following... the loan of my Time-Sert repair kit. You do indeed have the option to freak out, contemplate giving up riding, sell/trade your FJR, or even pony up $500 (new oil pan +labor) to have a stealership fix your problem (apparently all the above has been done by forum members). However, for the cost of shipping both ways (less than $25), you also have the option to borrow my TimeSert kit (which includes everything you need) to fix your beloved bike and get back out on the road in no time at all. :good:
I wrote a report on my personal website about my stripped oil drain plug and Time-Sert repair experience. I am by no means a mechanic but I did fix my bike, lived to tell about it, and ride it 18,000 miles since. :victory: The application wasn't on my FJR but a stripped oil drain plug is still a stripped plug (except I didn't even have the option to replace an oil pan!). All the information you need should be in the report including a link to the company's video demonstration of the repair. If you have further questions, in the report is a direct phone contact for someone at Time-Sert who can answer questions about anything to do with the repair process. All that said, I'd like to reiterate since there seems to be some confusion about this, that a Time-Sert is a steel PERMANENT insert. It is not a Heli-Coil and it will not come out once installed. Anyone who tries to tell you that a Heli-Coil and and Time-Sert are the same is simply not informed. My report is: HERE
This offer is **ONLY** available to FJR Forum members who are also listed in the FJR Assistance Directory. (Um, if you want help but can't offer it then you're own your own.) Since I spend quite a bit of time on the road and don't frequent the forum here regularly to receive PM's, the best way to reach me is through my direct contact information listed in the FJR Assistance Directory. Shipping to you if I am on the road will not be an issue.
Just payin' it forward....
