This past Saturday, my pal Mark met up with some his friends for one of their frequent "take no prisoners" SuperMoto rides. They hit the areas west of Asheville as the paved roads are twisty/bitchin' and many of them become dirt when they near the top of a mountain.
Their ride organizer told them when they met up for the day, that he had a 'surprise' for them later in the day. At one of the planned stops to regroup, the "surprise" was where they stopped. It was at the house of none other than former AMA professional road racer Jamie James. (who lives in nearby Leicester). Jamie still has strong ties to Yamaha, and acquired an FJR last year, and rides it around the Asheville area.
Jamie and his friends rode with the group for a while, then at another stop where he new the pavement would end, said his goodby's to everyone. As he rode away, he put the FJR up on the back wheel, and rode a stand-up wheelie all the way thru the gearbox for more than 1/2 mile! Mark said he was still standing on the pegs with the front wheel in the air when he crested the hill going out of their sight.
