Hello Jeff
I highly recommend for you to buy from your source, we can beat just about any price but the price you have listed is an excellent price and you should buy from your contacts anyway.
But I do think you should look into the new Garmin 2820 with bluetooth
Carefree navigation meets hands-free communication
.......
I hope this information has helped you! Don't blame me, blame progress! B)

Hmmm.... now the 2820...
ok, any major differences between the 2820 and the TomTom Rider?
As far as riding goes? big difference in price, but...
I was thinking about the tomTom Rider becuase I'm going to be going to New Zealand, Australia and the Netherlands.. next year...
Can I get maps for all of those in one unit? On cd?
I would presume I'd have to pay for the Europe and Oz downlands....
Do they download thru USB?
Or would it be better to just get one unit for the bike/Jeep and a handheld to take with me...?
I need some opinions here! <BG>
Since I just moved here to the Cleveland area, I'm not even sure where to go look at these things..
and since you're so great about answering questions, thot I throw these at you...
Hi James,
Looking for a suggestion.
Is there a GPS available that can be used in a car, on a bike,
and be able to use portably for a starting geocacher?
Not looking for it to be the best at anything, but
reasonably funtional at all three.
Thanks,
Tom
SP 2820 offers Text-To-Speech, MP3 player, audio book player, remote control and optional XM NavTraffic and/or XM Radio and speaker for use in car and audio out jack. Both SP 2820 and Rider offers Bluetooth option. We could order either GPS for you at our cost plus $20.00 shipping/handling. Our costs are below:
Garmin StreetPilot 2820 p/n#010-00517-05 $793.08
TomTom Rider P/N#1K00-080 $737.05
Maps of Europe and down under are available for TomTom and maps of Europe are available for Garmin systems but these additional maps could be expensive. I would suggest a handheld units if you are not planning on much driving overseas.

Ok...really doumb question... I have a cable from an old GPS that came on my bike... I saw on a pic someone posted it's called an SPIII I dont' suppose either the 2730, the 2820 or the TomTom rider will work with that...
Or do I just plug it into the powerlet thing?
thanks
mary
all the nice little droogies, eh?Ramblin Man,
I am always happy to help a FJR forum member.
I like your Avatar, I remembered the movie well, a clockwork orange, it seems like it was just yesterday....
I have a SP(1) and iirc the connectors were the same on the 3 different version of the Street Pilot. If so, it's a different connector than used with the 2xxx models. The older one is a round, 4-pin connector while the newer model uses a rectangle-ish slide-in connector (based on photos I've seen).Ok...really doumb question...
