has anybody put the lock code on there GPS (that is if they have one). DO you think it is worth it if somebody steals it? :assassin:

If you mean a PIN you have to enter to get it to work it won't make any diifference. They'll steal it first, then find they can't use it so they'll throw it away (or sell it on e-bay). They certainly won't put it back on your bike.

I have a Tomtom that I ALWAYS remove from the bike when I'm not sitting on it.

And even then, there's a risk of someone breaking into a side bag in case you've put it in there. I always make a show of putting it into my jacket pocket when I remove it, in case the ungodly are watching.

Around where I live, if you park your car on the street, it's wise to empty your glove-box and leave it open, so they can see there's nothing in it to steal. That way they might not break in.

A police officer I know tells everyone he knows to NEVER lock devices such as a GPS. If a pawn shop can not unlock it they won't buy it. If, they don't buy it the unit will end up in the trash as mcatrophy mentioned. However, if it works there is a chance it would show up in a pawn shop.

I had one stolen. It was not locked.

I now use the Garmin Lock/PIN feature.

The hassle of unlocking it is less than the irritation of knowing that some scumbag is using it.

If it gets stolen, I'd rather it be trashed than some scumbag using it, or being able to sell it.
