Are the grab on grip covers the same as grip puppies, if so what size fits the FJR?

Good question -- I would like to know as well...cause my hands are killing me as well!!!
I don't have the grip puppes, I have the regular grab on grips, I had them on my 85' FJ for twenty years and put them on the FJR. I love them, much better than stock grips. Don't know if the grip puppies are as good but probably worth a try.

I have grip puppies, work great, made a big difference. I ordered from some outfit called California Sport Touring, Inc. as follows:

Yep, love my grip puppies in black, high density foam (they also make them in leather and neoprene)
mine are soft, cushiony, and make the grips just the right size circumstance around
Easy to install over the stock grips, no problem with bar ends or throttlemeister, and easy and cheap to replace when/if they wear out (last for years for me)
Great farkle IMHO and I will stick with them for the life of all my Feejers
