Your Papa Chuy believes in reincarnation and I'm really praying I get to come back as Fenian Brother Steve McQueen. Not only was he a great actor, he raced cars and motorcycles all over the world; and he was a fantastic racer. And the frosting on the cake: He slept with the incredible and the hot Irish-American Beauty Ali MacGraw!

Steve was paid a million bucks to star in this advertisement for Honda Japan and he gave away every last cent to charity. Just look at the fun they're having desert racing!

Besides being paid to ride Honda CR250M Elsinore dirt bikes, Steve-O also got to ride Ali. Every Irish boy's dream girl! Hubba, hubba!

That was a really nice piece Don. Where do you find all this cool stuff? I agree on Ali........and never having to say your sorry!!

So THAT'S where you learned your dirt-riding technique! :D
Oh Man Mike, I could only wish! I ride off road dirt like an Old Scouser!
Re: Ms. McGraw.....

Are you trying to make MEM jealous with all of your "hubba-hubba" stuff?

Besides, I thought she was Scottish, not Irish. :dntknw:

Michael, I'd have to pick her up by her heels and count the rings to be absolutely certain! Hubba, Hubba!

don~Don

I've been a fan of actor/racer Steve McQueen as well as Ali McGraw who used to be the cat's meow, but somehow I noticed that the chest protection on both those actors seems a bit skimpy for the activity at hand?

BTW, Ali McGraw was on Oprah a week or 2 ago with Ryan O'Niel who she co-starred with in Love Story. She's changed since the pic above was taken (OLDER), so you might want to consider hanging on to that Eva Mendez fantasy you've got, before you give Eva up for an actress close to your own age?

Just sayin'

Too bad McQueen isn't around to ride the much improved dirt bikes of today. I'm sure he's smiling down on us with envy. RIP

Good God man! Watching Oprah? Is the weather THAT bad on the coast? I know, I know, the wife told you! :p

Don - My Dad's life long friend was a good friend and fellow racer of Steve. He told of some really funny stories illustrating that Steve was really a "Man's Man". They really broke the mold when he was made and he'd be a great choice for your second time around.

Mi Querido Jorge, Tus Compadre Papa Chuy would still do Ali MacGraw TWICE and take her to brunch! Now, that's Irish! Slainte, "El Burrito Ballerina" Senor Medina

JW, Have your Dad and his Friend look through these photographs, maybe they will see themselves and Steve among them. This is a collection by a Gentleman named BC Greene and BC has some fantastic pics from 60s and 70s California desert racing and roosting rides! NOTE: Double click to "Resume Slideshow" after every 25 pics.

I had the great privilege of meeting Steve "Cool" McQueen on two separate occasions: 1) I competed in the 1968 LA to Barstow to Las Vegas AMA Race on my 1967 BSA Victor 441 Special. Steve finished in the first five and I finished in the last fifteen. As I was riding in past Steve's paddock and van, he tossed me a can of Coors beer; amazingly I caught it with my clutch hand and stopped to drink it with Steve and his friends. Being a young punk (19), I just kept my mouth shut and listened to these older guys talking dirt bikes. A lot of the questions were directed to a guy standing next to me: I didn't know until later I was standing next to Malcolm Smith!!!

2) Next: I was up in Los Angeles at Bud Ekins' shop buying supplies, even though I was out of the Army by then and then riding BMW and a Sportster, and Steve came in to buy Triumph parts. Naturally, everyone in the shop gathered around him. He sat on a crate and just shot the biker breeze with everybody just like an Average Joe.

Your Dad was 100% correct about Steve McQueen: Absolute "Man's Man"! Completely unpretentious and real salt of the earth guy! Nobody cooler than Steve McQueen!

I worked at a drive in movie the summer that the movie Bullit was out. Every night at 10:38 I was back at the drive in to watch the chase scene between the Mustang and the Charger-good stuff.
