Yeah,
Anybody have any personal knowledge of the area?
I know Google is my friend...and I have been using it for info on jobs and the location. My wife & I are looking in the next year or two of possibly moving to the southeast. We are tired of snow & cold and don't really do outdoor winter activities to "get through the long winters". I am interested in twisty curvy roads and my wife is interested in the warm Atlantic ocean and beaches. The average winter temperatures seem to be about 15 degrees warmer than the Chicagoland/Wheaton area. Good enough for riding nearly year round - certainly in every month anyway.
Greenville & vicinity is only an hour or so from some good riding in the Smokies, and only 3 1/2 to 4 hours from the beaches at Myrtle Beach or Charleston, SC. Therefore this location has some attraction to us. However, as a structural engineer designing building structures...there needs to be a "critical mass" of business and industry and development for the need of someone to design some new structures for them.
If we don't move in the next few years, it would be due to not wanting to uproot our kids (upper elementary and high school age). This question will be moot when they are gone. However, my wife wants us to move now so the kids might settle down in the Greenville, SC area after college.
I know this thread is probably a waste of forum bandwidth...but I thought I would ask for some advice/info from my southeast FJR brothers and sisters...
Is it a nice area? Anybody worked around there?
