What are the ground harness recall attachment points?

Obviously one point is S4 and the blade goes to the ground (Under the battery?)

Where does the third connector attach?

I have Brodie's harness installed. I want to revert S4 back to stock so the service department doesn't give me grief. Is there another spider I need to revert?

I'm sick and tired of all the hassle I get for not having the recall done. I plan to reattach Brodies harness once I get this pain in the neck over.

Is it worth a visit to the stealer to show/explain the Brodie harness, and once they understand it is superior, just put a check in the 'Recall Done' box? If not, then proceed with your plan, or...... is it necessary the recall must be done at all?

I'm not sure how it works with Yamaha exactly. As a Buell owner I endured several recalls including 2 that I informed the dealer they would not be doing while I own the bike. All I had to do was sign a statement indicating I declined to have the recall performed for their records. This covered the dealership and to this day those recalls have not been done.

Yamaha's ground harness here in Australia has only the one S4 connector.

My 07 has Brodie's harness and when I took it to the dealer for the recall told /showed them what it was.

They just ended up giving me the harness and another one for my 06.

I suppose they still get their money from Yamaha for doing it.

My dealer signed off on the Brodie harness. On a side note There recently was a FJR in the shop that had died from a spider bite. The bike got a complete new harness but Yamaha only allowed the shop 3 hours labour to install a complete harness.

If there is a tech out there that can pull all the plastic, replace the harness and put everything back together without butchering everything in 3 hours I want to meet that tech and shake his / her hand.

Thanks to all for the replies. I'm only considering doing this because it has been such a hassle not to. My dealer is the closest Yamaha dealer to me at 35 miles. The next closest one is 70 miles. My dealer has the idea that they are legally bound to do the recall and keep after me to get it done. I had a set of tires installed at the next closest dealer and they made me sign not just one but four papers absolving them from liability of any kind before I could ride off.

It seemed an easy enough project to simply disconnect S4 from the Brodie harness and reconnect it after the recall harness was installed.

I saw a picture of the recall harness in another thread. There were three connectors, not just the two I expected. Also there was a comment about the recall harness putting more strain on S6 and S7. This made me wonder if the third connector went to another spyder. From the picture the S4 connector and the blade (going to ground) connector is obvious. I'm still wondering about that third one.

where can I get the Brodie wiring spider and ignition harnesses?

I've not had this recall done on mine but I inspect and re-goop the connectors every winter. And I've not set foot in a Yamaha dealership since the last one butchered my bike in '09.
