Hello everyone,

I've been finding myself splitting my time evenly between my gsxr-750 and my fjr. My concern is that when i move back to the FJR, sometimes in the same day, i feel terribly wobbly and not as in control while cornering. I like to ride farely aggressively but worry about this feeling.

Do you recommend adjusting my suspension on the FJ? It feels like going from a Mercedes sport sedan to an old cadillac--in other words, it seems to float through corners, and any bumps seem to really seem to scare me that I'm losing my grip as the bike feels loose.

Never had a problem with this before I got the gixxer.

Am I just being paranoid?

The AE's come with the Fleetwood Brougham suspension option-goes with the pinkie shift. ;)

But yeah, hard on the rear lever, 2 lines showing on the front, crank up the compression damping, might help. But Merc to Caddy? I don't think so.

First, I would examine the suspension on the FJR. It will never be a gixxer, but you want to be sure it is as good as it can be. One member here, HaulinAshe, is well known for his expertise both with suspension adjustments, and riding the piss out of the FJR. Perhaps a little reading HERE, CLICK ME, will at least give you a place to start some comparisons with your bike.

Also adjust your handlebar all the way to the forward position. Remember one of the reason why your GSXR feels like it handles so much better is because of how far forward and down the handlebars are at.

U don't say wether or not the suspension on your FJR is still factory set. If it is, your bike is probably way softer than your GSX-R, which is a big cause of that floating sensation. I ran my '07 with the stock settings for a few months. I ride it pretty hard and it never came out from under me. Unless you goto an aftermarket suspension, you will probably have a very hard time matching your GSX-R suspension, but that is the nature of two different types of bikes.

For help, goto this thread: Suspension Thread Adjust your settings accordingly and report back. I would bet you feel a world of difference. I know I did and my bike feels much more stable. It does NOT feel as solid as a sport bike. As far as losing it, you are probably feeling a little paranoid, but if you feel that way, back off a bit. No sense in getting killed.

Edit: Dammit Scab. You beat me to it. That's what I get for talking on the phone and trying to work and screw off at the same time.

There is no way you're going to make the FJR feel like a GSX-R 750. I agree with your comparison (sports car vs. caddy). For starters, there's about 200 pounds of extra weight you're luggin' through those corners.

The FJR is a great bike, and compared to V-Twin cruisers, its a sport bike... but compared to a real sport bike, its a mighty heavy, mighty comfortable, mighty practical, set of wheels.

I can say that before I got the FJR my sport touring ride was a Honda ST1100, and if I'd spent a day on a legitimate sport bike, the transition to a day on the ST was always an adventure. The FJR is not nearly as caddy like as the ST was. Its sporty for what it is.... but it is what it is, and you can't take that away from it.

I can chime in here (maybe)

I ride a GSXR 750 on the track with AK20s on the front and a penske triple on the back, The FJR has AK20s in front and a penske double in back.

The transition from one to another is fine for me but my suspension has been set for me on both bikes.

Why do you have your old Cadillac? Maybe you should upgrade to a Corvette like a new R1 and compare that to the Mercedes.

Yes, your paranoid.

If you like your Cadillac, adjusting suspension to suit you will definately improve the performance.

All good information given in this thread and I"m not expert.

My observations after 2300mi. on my '08.

First, it's a big heavy bike with an upright postiion. I too feel a bit unstable on it in corners. I have stiffened the forks and ride with the rear on "Hard". I do need to read the fine adjustment thread.

I put on a Superbrace and felt I would notice the difference like I did on my 650 VStrom. Night and day difference on the smaller bike. Not very noticeable on my FJR.

I think the best for me personally is seat time. I just need way more to feel even better on the FJR. I feel good now but, miles are the only thing at this point which will make the most difference.

My advice is not to ride the GSX and the FJR the same or expect to be able to. If I owned a Honda S2000 and a Accord Coupe, I wouldn't expect the Coupe to drive as well going around corners. Great ride like the FJR but not a sports car.

Good luck.

That is why many of us have multiple bikes.

I have several personalities On fits my VTX1800 another for track days 06 750 gixxer But when I am going to be putting on the miles, I Love my 07 Feejer.

I do admit that I miss my FZ-1. That was a better compromise of performance to comfort, but not near as comfy as Feejer.

But if you can give up some comfort, the FZ-1 is Much lighter and faster and you can still ride it all day if you are in decent shape were as the Gixxer will wear you out in a little while.
