So I was sitting here wasting my life participating on the FJR Forum, when it suddenly occurred to me that this month is the second anniversary of owning my '05 FJR. Yippeekayay!
Then I wondered how many miles I'd put on baby. Now, I'm in the habit of saying casually that I ride about 20K miles a year, which is why I put exactly that number on the StreetMasters application where it asks, Approximately how many miles did you ride last year? But is that right?
The anniversary is actually on April 22, but since I don't think I'll be riding the bike till then, I figured I'd do the calcs. The results surprised me--not the number of miles itself so much as the mathematical elegance of the answer....
Miles on bike when I bought it: 1,700
Miles on bike right now: 41,701
Total miles put on bike: 41,701 - 1,700 = 40,001
Miles per year last two years:
20,000.5
What are the odds????*

*Probably about as good as being killed by a stingray in a boat off Florida.
