I got tired of having my detector (Escort X50) exploding in my eardrums through the earphones when it detected something and I had already slowed down or checked my speed. Reaching for the mute button in the body of the detector was hard, specially with gloved hands.
I was planning to wire my own cord with a mute switch when I came across the following link:
www.Safe-N-Sound1.com
Clicky
It would have probably cost me more in parts to build the cord that was delivered to me for $13.50 (shipping included). The cord that I ordered was custom made to my specifications (see specs at the end of the post) and included a flat pretty water resistant switch (see pictures in the link).
If you like Christmas decorations, it is also possible to add LEDs indicating status of the radar detector.
This person also sells the same set up for the Valentines.
Just a happy customer, no association etc etc and all the other lawyer stuff.
Specs for my customized cord:
3 ft hot wire (connect to +) no connector
3ft ground (to -) no connector
4ft for flat mute button
4ft for detector plug wire
