Has anyone stayed at Art Devlins in Lake Placid? The reviews and rates look great and it appears to be in a nice part of Lake Placid:

Sorry, never have.

When we go to the 'dacks we usually try and stay out of the little cities of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. They're the only two really congested areas in the whole park, so naturally all the people from "down state" end up there. .

We stayed at the Northwoods a few years ago. Not fancy by a long stretch, but clean. Reasonable restaurant on the ground floor. We parked and never used the car again for the weekend we were there. The town is pretty small - you can walk the whole thing in a few minutes.

You can get a pretty good view of Mirror Lake from the upper floors.

I try to get down to Lake Placid at least once a winter for a weekend ski trip. Art's has been our preferred choice for a hotel for the last couple years. Privately owned and not a chain. But always a pleasant stay with nice clean rooms. We even splurged for the big "suite" last year and really enjoyed the stay.

If you phone the hotel directly for a reservation then you are really talking to the people at the front desk. Not just a call center somewhere. Any questions about the hotel or the area can be answered right then and there.
