I bought an '06 from a forum member in RI via eBay and had it shipped to CA and dropped off at a local dealership. They pick up the bike and take it to their warehouse in WI where it is stored until it can be sent in a mass shipment to the west coast.
Pros:
-Haulbikes had the cheapest rate and average delivery time.
-Their insurance coverage was reasonable and there wasn't anything surprising in the contract.
-Staff responded to questions quickly, though not always with an answer to my questions.
-No major scuffs/dings/drops I wasn't told about by the seller.
-No extra mileage.
Cons:
-I had to wait over 2 weeks longer than they said I would have to. (I know, I know BOO HOO!)
-No notice of a range of days when to expect it. (Even though it was delivered to a dealer, I had no time to make plans to pick it up.)
-At 11 am I am called by the dealership, who says my bike has arrived. At 5 pm the delivery driver finally tells me he has dropped it off.
-They want to pick up and drop off from locations that are open during business hours, with the bike available days at a time. If the seller didn't have his fiancée stay home to release it, that would have been a $100 charge for attempted pick up. Same charge for attempted drop off.
Verdict:
Would I ship with them again? Yes, because it arrived in one gorgeous unblemished piece. That, and I'm cheap... or thrifty, you be the judge.
Would I ship with them if I had a time constraint, and expect my bike to be there when I show up? No friggin' way.
