Well, there really is no place (external FJR Tech Link perhaps?) to mention this, but since my kids made me sign up for Facebook I went looking for FJR resources there.

I found three existing groups, but one is in Italian, and the other two were simply dead, dedicated in one case to 'travel' so I created one myself:

FJR Owners

It is an open forum - feel free to post on any topic, political or otherwise. Smack each other across the heads and more. This place is fine for the generic stuff, but I'm tired of being warned or banned because I mention a name that someone in charge happens not to like - feel free to mention the unmentionalble over there.

I'm hoping to get enough of a core so that there is sufficient interest in the postings. The group is new, so it is light on members - one suggested mentioning it here.

So I did.

So dial up FJR Owners on your Facebook account and have fun posting your views and photos.

Nearly all groups on facebook are dead, I'm on the largest of the FJR groups (domestic) with about 60 members or so. Don't expect your group to be any diff. But, your more than welcome to add me as a friend!

I'll be 42 next month. What is the chance I can get through the rest of my adult life without ever signing on to facebook? I was hoping to also say this about myspace, but, I was looking for info on an obscure band, so that's out the window. Is it beneficial or just a timewaster?

I know exactly what you mean Randy...

yes.

Truthfully though, it is kinda cool keeping up with friends you don't get to see too often. That being said, I still haven't been able to find any of the guys I grew up with - but that gets chaulked up to demographics. Then number of 40+ year olds on facebook is small compared to the total population.

I'm 43, and I'm enjoying Facebook a great deal, connecting with old friends and classmates. The CEO of my 50,000 person firm is on the thing. I think it now passes as credible.

I'm joining the FJR Group, though now that they've changed Facebook, the Groups aren't nearly as obvious any longer.

Btw, there are two FJR Owners groups - one with 10 members, the other with 142 right now.

I'm working on trying to get this brown spot off my nose.....But.....

As much as I do like getting into political discussions,etc.....I also like this site, because it isn't filled with any more stuff than it needs to keep on subject about motorcycles(fjr),and it does have some pull in the mc biz world,as long as we don't rock the boat.

I am also hoping your site will work out.Good luck!

That doesn't make it credible, that only means some marketing schmukity Schmuck convinced him there is value in 'Social Marketing/Networking'.

:D

Well to each his own but I already spend too much time on the computer between work, these forums, photobucket, online billpay and banking not to mention e-mail. I think if I sign up for one more thing and have to remember one more password or logon I'll start forgetting important things...like my real address and phone number. I can already barely remember my kid's names.

Facebook? I don't know. It'd be a toss-up between that or my Rubix cube for the extra time I have on my hands. I should throw on my Members Only jacket and head over to my BFF's house to see what he thinks about it. ;)

Okay, okay, couldn't resist, but Facebook? C'monnnnn, that stuff is for people 20-30 years younger than anyone around here.

This site is the ultimate for the FJR, hands down ...and a little oppression is good for everyone once in awhile. :p

Are you talking about the 0-10 demographic? Be careful type casting everybody here as old, cause I'm pretty sure we aren't.

That being said, I have a facebook account that I never open and have no friends (just like real life) and a myspace that I have found very useful to keep up with old friends, but most of them aren't 40+ either.

Good point, though I think he's generally the one doing the convincing. The guy's generally pretty hip. But he's also one of those guys who finds credibility in blogs, and we know what a waste of time those are for writers and readers...

(Damn, did I write that out loud?)

:derisive: (From a guy who actually enjoys Facebook and blogs.)

Ahhh, grasshopper, note the smileys in my original post...and/or refer to this posting from awhile back. Albeit a small number took the poll, I'm pretty certain the 70%+ that posted there who are over 40 are a pretty accurate sampling of members here. Judging by the all the gray hair I saw at WFO 5, 6 and NAFO, I'd definitely bet on that theory - (ducking for cover).

My kids, all 3 away at college are very active on it. It is a good way to get in touch with them , pictures etc. One of these "wall to wall" posts was to my 20 yr old daughter about her Tat and it was cool. I wrote on her wall "what tat" and it was not too bad. Thank God! A lot of drinking pics etc , but nothing I didn't do so , not much to say. I am slowly getting the hang of it. I joined the FJR group, does not see too active.

It's a total waste of time - but it's fun.

I use it and keep in touch with friends all over the place. It's a nice thing to goof around with.
