The Wifey and I are heading south tomorrow for our 29th aniversery. 9 days of exploring Fayetteville,WVA , Boone, Asheville, Gatlinburg etc. I hope to run into some fellow riders somewhere down there. I'll report when we get back.

Take Care!

when you are on the parkway, consider a stop at little switzerland and eat or drink at the switzerland inn. The owner Gary Jensen and His wife are riders. He has owned a 06 fjr in the past. right now he has a couple of dual sports.

I stay up there several times a year. The place is very unique and has a awesome friday night, prime rib and seafood buffet. Top notch cuisine. Not your average buffet for sure.

they are directly on the parkway just south of the spruce pine exit.

here is the info.

We made it back Saturday after 2025 miles of riding. I'll get the pictures sorted shortly and post a report in the proper section. mmmmmmmm that buffet was great!

I have been monitoring this thread to see if you commented on the buffet. I hope you are talking about the one I suggested at the Switzerland Inn.

If so, did you meet Gary or his wife jackie, the owners.

I am going up to the Inn in several weeks to complete a barter deal that I did with gary. Here is the short story...I am a wholesale auto dealer in the Atlanta ga area. Back in November I purchased at the car auction a 2006 DRZ 400 dual sport with 1000 miles on it. The bike was as new. looked like it was ridden 100% on the street.

gary wanted it to go along with the heavier 2008 KLR650 that he owns. he will ride it on the tight stuff and his wife will also use it.

Here is where the barter deal comes in. I sold Gary the bike for exactly what I paid the auction. $2885.00 to be exact. In exchange for passing the bike at zero profit, I traded for a all expense paid weekend at the switzerland Inn. Buffet included.

So in a couple of weeks I will be scarfing down all the excellent seafood and prime rib I can eat for notta. Then I will proceed to his nice bar/lounge and continue the repayment of the barter.

I expect the afternoon high temps in Atlanta to be in the 85-90 degree range by then. Those 75 dgree daytime temps and 55-65 night time temps in little Switzerland will be just what the doctor ordered.

Oh yea the buffet was awesome. We hit that buffet after riding all day with no lunch. I'm 50 and have never seen any buffet to match that. Every dish very well prepared. Thanks for the tip on that. The room however well that's another story. I'll be posting up in the ride report soon. I just need to process some pics to go with it.

Your comments reminded me of a very similar stay just an hr up the BRP at Stations Inn. The food was excellent, BUT if your expecting 4 * comfort, better keep riding! Hospitality was good as well. And the owners are riders as well. This was back in May.
